About the ASA
The Amateur Swimming Association is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Open Water, and Synchronised Swimming. It organises competition throughout England, establishes the Laws of the Sport and operates comprehensive certification and education programmes for Teachers, Coaches and Officials. The ASA also developed the renowned National Plan for Teaching of Swimming (NPTS), the blueprint framework for Learn to Swim Schemes, which has been widely implemented in pools across the UK, Eire and abroad. Reward and motivation for swimmers is provided through the Kellogg’s ASA Awards Scheme, the most successful awards scheme in sport. The ASA supports 1,600 affiliated swimming clubs through a National/Regional/County structure.
